Who is eligible for Financial Assistance?

Low income patients and patients with extraordinarily high medical bills may be eligible for Financial Assistance from Inova. Inova compares patient income, as documented in the Financial Assistance Application, to Federal Poverty Guidelines to determine eligibility. Inova also reviews residency status. To receive discounts for emergency services, patients must have established residency for 30 days or more in Virginia.

Apply in Inova MyChart

  • You can apply directly in Inova’s MyChart portal. Sign up or login to MyChart to complete your application (Login, click Menu, then scroll down to Financial Assistance under Billing).
  • You can also submit required documentation, monitor the status, and check

Specialists operate in a call-center environment and are ready to help you through an assessment  to identify the needs you have and link you to resources for which you are eligible. Whether it’s providing basic county information or providing assistance for more emergent needs – such as emergency food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, employment, financial assistance and other essential needs – our specialists are ready to help you find solutions to fit your circumstances.

Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities established the Emergency Assistance program to assist those who are experiencing a one-time financial crisis in their lives. Assistance is given on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Applicant must be a resident of the Diocese of Arlington and must not live in subsidized housing.  They must be able to communicate via email and phone and attend a Zoom video appointment with the Case Manager. They only accept applications for about a week each month usually starting in the second week of the month.  Those who are eligible for assistance should email the Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance office at EA-CH@ccda.net, providing your phone number and address. Once you send an email you will receive a screening questionnaire which must be completed entirely in order to receive a response. To receive assistance, you will be asked to provide a proof of income.  For rent, you will need a written lease in your name, a late or eviction notice in your name, and a W-9 form (completed by landlord/property manager).  For utilities, you will need a written lease in your name and a past due bill in your name. Eligible applicants may receive assistance once in a 12-month period and up to two times in a 10-year cycle.

ECHO

If the person needing help lives in ECHO’s service area, ZIP codes 22151, 22152, 22153, and 22015 or in 22150, West of I-95, or in 22312, Southwest of Indian Run Stream/Spring Valley Drive they are eligible for help.  If a SVDP Caseworker would like to help a person in need but cannot cover the entire amount, ECHO may be able to collaborate.
